Gavin & Stacey is a British sitcom which focuses on the lives of the two main characters, as well as their friends and family. The show was originally broadcast on BBC Three and lasted 3 series, beginning in 2007 to 2010.

The show displays some specific filming styles that have inspired my chosen style for Young & Famous. The first thing I noticed about the show was the natural lighting and how they make the show appear to be using natural house lights and lamps, when in reality the most likely have a grid on the ceiling and are lighting from above. To give off the idea that the house is lit naturally, the lamps in the scene are all turned on and use bright orange bulbs to make them stand out.

If there is a scene that takes place in the evening, they show this by leaving the blinds or curtains open in the rooms to show that it is dark outside. They also use outside lighting to mimic moonlight coming into the rooms. Although none of the scenes in Young & Famous take place in the evening, I liked the idea of lighting from outside. This could be a good alternative if we are filming in a small room with low natural lighting. The lights could be put outside and used to mimic natural lighting coming through a window.

The show also uses a variety of different shot sizes, including Medium Close Ups, Long Shots, and Close ups. For these scenes that are quite dialogue heaving and show the characters having an emotional conversation, they make use of more close up shots to convey the emotions of the characters and add a tense mood to the scene. For some of the more emotional scenes in Young & Famous, I aim to use thus style and technique too in order to convey their emotions, specifically in the scene where they are talking to the character Marie and being told they are not good enough, their moments of defeat but also the moments where they succeed to show their happiness and excitement.
