The Panasonic DVX200 offers many different filming options that I interesting in using and exploring.

Filming Quality

There are many different options available for different filming resolutions, from HD to 4K. The Panasonic offers within each bracket another selection of options with different frame rates. This allows for many different options and will be something that I definitely test during a test shoot to find the best one that will work for us, considering what is usually used for television shows and what looks good.

External Batteries

The batteries that come with these cameras are external which is very useful for us as we will most likely need to change them regularly. Due to my decision to film with a Multicam set up, this is a really useful feature as we will be filming for long periods of time and will need batteries readily available when they run out.

Quantity

My plan for the multicamera set up is to have the cameras, preferably all the same. This is possible with the Panasonic as we have the availability to do this.By have 3 cameras the same, this makes matching them up much easier and means that, hopefully, when they are all set with the same settings, all 3 cameras should look the same and we shouldn't be able to tell the difference between them in the edit.

Filming Info Options

There are many different feature son the camera which allow me to see all the lens info. This is important for me and my cameras operators as we need to make sure that all three cameras are working with the same settings but also makes for checking exposure more precise with the histogram features which allows you to see the levels and make sure no clipping has occurred, it also helps with checking audio meters, although we will be recording audio separately, the Panasonic will also have mics on to use for syncing us the three cameras in editing.

File Size/Memory Capability

The cameras take two SD cards which is really useful for us, as tv students who own their own cameras, we all have access to our own SD which gives us a vast amount of memory to use. This takes away from stress from filming days as we do not have to worry about freeing up memory hards halfway through the shoot in order to film more. We can easily use another memory card and then take all the footage from them at the end of the day. The memory cards must be of a decent quality and have a relatively fast write speed in order for the footage to look good on the card, but other than this there aren't any restrictions.

Overall these cameras are of a really good quality and make available to us many useful features which will help in the production of Young & Famous which is why I've chosen these cameras to use.
