DIGITAL NEWS • References to Viral Videos

In our intro we reference lots of different viral videos to give some history and show how many different ones there are.

  • Charlie bit my finger,
  • David went to the dentist
  • PPAP
  • Keyboard Cat
  • Damn Daniel
  • Harlem Shake
  • Shia Lebouf

To introduce Katie Joslin, we created an X Factor style intro. We used a similar style of graphics to show our audiences things about her youtube channel such as how and views and subscribers she has. Josh and I also recorded the voice over to go with this which is in the same style as the Peter Dixon, who does the actual X Factor voiceovers.

Katie Joslin - Introduction

During Katie's Interview we included lots of little pop ups of different memes and references to random things that match with words that Katie says. for example, she said the word "saw" so we included the eyeball emoji, she also says the word "hobby" so we included an image of The Hobbit. These only last for a few seconds and there a sound effect that goes with them.

The Pen Pineapple Apple Pen video is a running theme throughout out our final video. We mention the video right at the beginning and one of our original ideas was to have our presenter Josh dance to this video however we ended up going with just inserting a small clip of the original video. In our interview Katie Joslin also mentions the video and we have a pineapple as a prop on the table through the interview.

The bottle flip is another viral video that we included. We did the challenge ourselves in our live video and there is a shot after the live where Josh throws the bottle off screen and we cut to a shot of the bottle landing upright. This is a viral thing where people are faking themselves flipping the bottle after throwing it in a ridiculous way.

In our outro, we included the "Bye, Felicia" as this is popular viral video and we also had our presenter do the dance from the "Don't Make me snap my fingers" video. This added another humorous element to the end of our video to finish it off.
