This is my basic film schedule for my first shoot day on Tuesday the 9th. When I have more details from my actors and specifics on my location, I will be able to create a more detailed one.
For our first shoot day, we had a shot list which gave us basic idea of the shots we needed to get from our interviews and the GV's of the location. When it came to actually filmed we focused more on the interview side of filming and made sure that we had those done before we looked at the other shots we had planned to film. I think we should have referred more to the shot list on the day it would have given us more directed on what we needed to make sure we filmed. When we knew that we would have to re-film wrote another shot list which was much more detailed as we knew exactly what shots we needed this time. We were also able to include what sounds and dialogue we wanted as we knew what we needed the presenter to say again and re-record.
Eden is a documentary television channel best known for broadcasting wildlife, adventure and science programmes. It started out in 2004 being UKTV Documentary but was changed in 2009 to Eden. Along with changing their name, they also changed the programmes they were broadcasting. They now focus on nature and science documentaries. The channel hosts shows such as Amazing Planet and How big is the universe? It regularly features David Attenborough and Professor Brian Cox who host a multitude of their shows. Our documentary should be suitable to be broadcast on Eden at 8pm. From looking and what is already on at 8pm, programmes such as Monster Bug Wars, Human Planet and Worlds Wildest Cities, I found it difficult to see a pattern in the types of programmes they were showing in this time slot. however, they are all very much nature orientated and this is something we plan to keep to in order to stick with the theme of the channel....
I was able to plan a test shoot of a specific scene from our most recent script, this was useful in many different ways, including planning the best position for cameras, looking at whether they would logistically fit 3 cameras in one room, how the lighting would work and the flow of the scene. The first this I did on this day was set up the cameras in the dining room which is where the scene I had chosen takes place. I chose this specific scene because I felt this was one of the more tricky ones in the room was much smaller than some of the ones we had previously completed test shoots in as also because there is lots of movement in this scene and a need for artificial lighting as well. I matched up the cameras with the same settings, these included the white balance, making sure they were set to the same Kelvin and the record settings - for this test I tried filming in Ultra HD at 25fps to compare to my previous test which was done in Full HD. This proc...
