After a long time feeling sorry for himself, he finally picked himself up and got into the police force. Now, as a very successful investigator, he is back to his old self and is just as assertive and independent as ever. Shane is very quickly thrown into the centre on a major investigation and finds it challenging but is too proud to ask for help. It is clear that Shane is struggling and mistakes are starting to show in his work. His boss decides on hiring another investigator to become Shane's partner, however Shane doesn't take the news well. He thinks that having a partner will make him look weak in front of his other colleagues. He instantly makes up his mind about what his new partner will be like and is convinced he won't like them.
