The Meeting


Infamous bank robber Joe is on the run when he unexpectedly crashes into retired soldier David who persuades him to rethink his path in life.


Genre: 
Drama - The story mainly focuses on the relationship between David and Joe when they meet for the first time and the effect they have on each other. David convinces Joe to lead a better life and makes his see that there are other ways to provide for his family, something they both have in common.

Thriller - The story begins with a chase scene, Joe running away from the police with the stolen money, looking a quick escape. The unexpected confrontation builds tension and suspense for the audience as the police are getting closer.



Plot: 

School Playing Field
In the suburban town of Hackney, notorious bank robber, known by the locals as Joe is escaping from his latest pursuit. With the police on his tail and a reputation to uphold, he fears wont be able to get away with it this time. He notices a gap in the fence of a school field with the exit in his sights. Meanwhile David is making his way back to school through the gates to collect his bag after giving a safety briefing to students. As he turns the corner, he collides with Joe, knocking him to the ground as bank notes fly into the air.  The sound of sirens alert David as he realizes who he is faced with. 


Joe: “Watch where you’re going! 
Don’t you know who I am?”

Goal:

The main goal for Joe is to successfully rob the bank without being caught. After meeting David, his goal changes because his character changes. Joe's goal is to now live an honest life with his family. David's goal at the beginning of the story is to carry on with his life as normal without being disturbed. When he bumps into Joe, he realises what a difference just a short conversation can make to someones life and that he has many years experience to offer.

Theme: 


Bank robber Joe
Everyone makes mistakes and it is a part of learning. The decisions people make can sometimes take them down the wrong path but if they want to and have the courage to stand back up after being knocked down, it is just as easy to change with the determination to succeed.
