STUDIO PRODUCTION • Camera Workshop With Del Brown
I found this quite challenging at first because it was quite hard to control the focus and the framing size at the same time. When checking the focus after the move, it looks good in the viewfinder on the camera but when we zoomed in to check, often the shot was very soft. This was quite hard to get right and I found that most times my shots were perfectly focussed.
This task was really useful because it allowed us to all see how difficult it can be to film a live show and gave us all a good chance to practice. After this task, the subject was then changed to a watch or bracelet that someone is wearing. This was much harder because it was an extreme close up which meant that we had to watch where we placed the camera to let in a good amount of light and make sure we weren't too close so that the cameras could still focus on the object.
This was made harder by the person moving the watch or bracelet from side to side, so as camera operators we had to keep up the framing and focus as the object moved. I enjoyed this exercise and found it really helpful in developing my camera skills and my understanding in what a camera operator on a live show has to do.
