STUDIO PRODUCTION • Trailer Shoot Day

When shooting the trailer for the show, Ellen and I knew what we wanted from the shoot and were prepared with our shot list and scripts. We'd worked out what order we were going to film our shots in to make the most of the time we had as we were filming outside and had animated amount of daylight.

For this shoot we had the same crew as the opening titles shoot (Troy on camera and Sammi on sound), who both had been briefed on what we were filming. We had 4 actors (Imogen, Laura, Rosie and Sam from second year) on this shoot so we had to make sure that everyone knew what they we doing when and keep everyone organised.

We went through our shot list relatively quickly with the team working really well together, crew and actors. The was strong communicated throughout the whole shoot and we had some time left at the end which allowed Sammi to recorded some more atmosphere sounds and we also gave Troy the option to film some of his own shots that went listed on our shot listen so he could add some creativity to the video.

We filmed in Car Park 5 in the studios car park which we had organised so the area had be cornered off for us, ready to use. There were some people who had ignored the obvious cones blocking off the area and parked there so I had to go around writing down their license plates and asking reception if they could try and contact some of them so they could move their cars.

This shoot was really successful and we had a rough cut finished by the end of the day even though we had filmed in the afternoon because we finished in good time. We good the shots we needed and some extra which we ended up using. We had also already chosen a music track to go with the piece and had created the graphics prior to filming so that everything was ready for when we came to the edit.
