DIGITAL NEWS • The Brief & Initial Ideas
For this unit, we have been given the task of creating our own branded digital news channel, either through designing a website or Youtube channel around our brand that specifically targets the audience we choose within our groups.
I have chosen to work with Josh Jones, Ida Frank, and Becca Bennett. All four of us have not worked on a project together so it will be interesting to work with some different people for this unit.
In our first meeting, we decided to discuss who would take what role within the project. this worked quite well for us as everyone had a different preference so it was easy to decide.
ROLES:
Josh: Presenter & Editor
Becca: Director & Writer
Ida: Sound & sound Design
Me: Director of Photography
We talked about how although Becca would be writing our script, we would come together as a group to work on it, so that everyone could contribute their ideas and what they want to be included. Ida and I also talked about how on filming days we would work together and help each other with the sound and camera.
BRAINSTORMING IDEAS:
- We all agreed that the target audience should be students because as students ourselves, we know what kind of news other students would be interested in.
- In terms of news content, we chose to watch some programmes similar to what we were thinking about, for example, Topical Waffle by Jimmy Fallon which is the style of comedy that we want to achieve.
- we had different ideas for topics we wanted to include such as TV/Film, Celebrity News and Social Media. As homework, we each went away and looked for specific news articles that we could put in our main video.
