STUDIO PRODUCTION • Trailer Test shoot

Image
To see what our plan for the trailer would look like, we created a test shoot. We used Josh and Sam as stand in presenter and Norman and we filmed in Lecture room 1 where we attempted to recreate the cinema scene we want for the real thing.  We used the projector and played a video which gave us a flicker effect to make the cinema setting more realistic and so we got the light reflecting on their faces. We then edited the video and added some basic graphics that we wanted to include to give an idea of what we would do with the real thing.  We liked how the overall look of the video, the two characters together worked well and its gives the audience a chance to get to know them and for them to be introduced before the show actually starts.  When it came to watching it with the rest of the class, there was a discussion as to whether it works as a trailer or if it would be better suited to the opening sequence of the show. It was decided that this would work better as the o

STUDIO PRODUCTION • Test Shoot Script

Image
For our tests shoot Ellen and I wrote out a script to give us an idea of what we wanted the trailer to be like.  For many of the shows, the trailers were a bundle of adverts fro a mixture of different shows, not one specific one. They also included clips from episodes, which is something we cannot do as it’s a pilot show. I looked at trailers for 8 out of 10 Cats as this is in a similar style to The Big Movie Quiz. For their trailers, the show clips from the show, focussing on the comedy aspect, they include and shots of the host and the contestants as they’re famous this this would be something that interests their audience. For our trailer we need to create something that doesn’t start with shots of the set as we don’t have access to ours, we need to use our characters and put then in a scenario to create our trailer.  For this we took the idea of using our two characters, the host and Norman and using them in the trailer. We wanted to have in a cinema setting where the tw

STUDIO PRODUCTION • Style Bible

When make the Style Bible for The Big Movie Quiz, Ellen and I started by looking at previous examples to see what types of things needed to be included. The mains sections that were included were Font, Backgrounds, Colour Schemes, lower Thirds, Set Design, Props and Costume and a basic Lighting Plan. These give anyone reading it detailed information on the themes, and for people editing VTs, they can see what font types, color and sizes they should use if the included any text. To do this, we spoke to the Producer Josh and Directer Becca to get the information we didn't already know and see if there was anything else they wanted to be included.  Font: for this section we included the main font of the show which was used on the logo, along with a note telling the group that it can be downloaded from the shared Google Drive. We also included the the style, size, color with the color code and whether it is placed on a white or transparent background. This makes the branding of

STUDIO PRODUCTION • Developed Logo

Image
To make the logo for the show, ideas were taken from the original logo Producer Josh had created. I had a meeting with him to see what elements he wanted included in the logo. We both agreed that it should fit with the glamour theme and it should incorporate some of the parts of the set design, for example the red curtains and gold glitter.  The text itself has the lights encased within to match the theme and to give it a look of importance and as something that people should take notice of. The idea for the gold boarder and the box the text in within was taken from old cinema signs where the title of the movie would be shown above the entrance to the cinema outside. This watches with the 'movie' theme of the show, along with the film reels in the background.  Images // http://sensesofcinema.com/assets/uploads/2011/12/IMAGE12.jpg https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/1e/10/8e/1e108ecbe0459cdde2e0ad767eb3cf78.png

STUDIO PRODUCTION • Social Media

Image
Part of mine and Ellen's role was creating the social media sites for The Big Movie Quiz. We decided to start with the sites Facebook and Twitter as these are the ones most used to promote tv shows and films. From doing some research into which are the best sites to used, I found that for television shows, twitter is mostly used and lost of shows no include a hashtag that their audience can use when talking about the show, this encourages people to join the discussion as an episodes is broadcast and gets people involved.  When it comes to the types of  content  we post, we have decided that want might interest our audience the most is the backstage aspect of the show. Taking this into account, we want to keep them updated with the pre-production stage of the show as much as the actual production, posting images of the crew on shoots and in workshops.  To gain our audience we chose to make our pages and then share them with people we know, asking other members of the c
