PRODUCTION • Evaluation

When starting the second half of this unit, I was excited to see the planning and hard work we had put in as a group come to life and be able to see all our ideas turn into the final project.   On the whole, I’m very happy with how the project turned out. There was lots of hard work put in by all members of the team and it paid off as I’m very happy with the project outcome. From our initial ideas to now, our story has developed a huge amount and even though the edit the story changed and for the better. Seeing the scenes we had written come to life on the screen has been a long journey but a very rewarding one.  Despite some of the issues we had, we did work well as a team and I have learnt a lot about how important communication is between group members at all time. I have also majorly developed my skills through my roles as DOP and the editor.  Being the DOP: Throughout this project, I have really enjoyed being the director of photography and I feel as though I have l

PRODUCTION • Editing the Project | Development

Before I began the edit, I needed to work out m workflow so that when all the footage was important I could start sorting it out and begin organising the edit. When downloading footage from the camera after each day, the footage was put into separate folders for each day which made things much easier as I could look through the producer’s schedules and work out what scenes were filmed on each day and then split up the footage into. The appropriate scenes. During the pre-production stage, it was decided that we would edit our project in Final Cut Pro as during some tests I carried out, it seemed to cope with editing in multi-cam than Premiere, especially with the UHD footage we were filming in. After production was complete, we then found out the Final Cut had been removed from the university computers and we had no other copy of the programme that was accessible. I then decided that premiere was the next best software to use for the project. When importing the footag

PRODUCTION • Credits | Research & Development

Image
For the credits of Young & Famous, we wanted to try and do something that would not only fit with the theme of the show but would also be just as interesting to watch as the rest of the video as credits can often be skipped through. The main things that I needed to include were The names of all cast & crew members The name of the show again Our production company name at the end The UCA end card so people know where it was made. From looking at the credits of other sitcoms, I found that they often used standard credits that would continuously cut to the next page of new credits which sometimes incorporated stills from the episode or images of the characters. I have chosen to take these ideas from my research and included them into our idea for the credits which not only showcase all our cast and crew but do so in an interesting and fun way that fits with the theme of our show. THE IDEA: For our credits, I decided that it would be fittin

PRODUCTION • Shoot Day 8&9 | Reshoot

Image
Shoot Day 8 The reshoot was planned to only take one day of filming as we had organised all of the actors we need to come to the location on the Monday and Laura had created a schedule of all the different shots and scenes we needed to redo. We initially had an issue when one of our actors cancelled who was the main reason for the reshoot. However, it was too late to cancel and there were still some extra shots that we could film that would benefit the production.  The first thing we started with was trying to film some extra shots of our Marie character when she approaches the house in scene 17. This did not work at all as the weather was a disaster which meant that wind and rain in this new shot would not match up with the scene we already had. We decided to try and carry on with this shot and get it anyway as we had booked our actress to come on location for the day so we should try and complete it. After this, we came back inside and decided that there was
