Pitch and Feedback • Pre-Production

To prepare for our pitch, we started by writing a list of all the things we wanted to include. This also helped us in writing out treatment.

Reading through the book 'Directing the Documentary' by Michael Rabiger really helped up as there is a section in the book on writing a pitch/treatment which gave us some good ideas of the types of things we should talk about and key things to include.

When deciding on what we should each say in the pitch, we each chose a selection of slides that we would take responsibility for so that each person was equally contributing to the pitch. This worked well for us and we we able to include everything we wanted.

In our pitch we mentioned, the genre of documentary and filming approach we would take as well as our main story and the different aspects such as narrative structure and characters.

Overall, I think the pitch was a success and I was happy with the feedback we received. We were given some good advice on where to go from there and the next steps we should take. this helped us to develop our idea even more and progress on with our idea.

The feedback we received from our pitch was good, there were a few things that Helen and Simon wanted us to consider looking into, for example they asked us to look into the damages cases by the quad bikes and possible contact a place where they provide the public with a safe and controlled place to ride them. We were also asked to try and get in contact the Wildlife Trust to find out more about the pros and cons of having wildlife on farms, and look into talking to someone from Natural England and Forestry Commission about the positives and negatives of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme.
