Script Development:

Our script has gone through manages changes throughout our production process.


  • We firstly changed our script to include little phrases and words that our presenter would say so that it all sounded really natural when recorded. This helped the flow of the script and made it feel very conversational. 
  • We went through and changed the intro to include a little bit more history about our chosen topic and to give the audience more information so that if they didn't know anything about the topic, they could still watch our video and enjoy it. 
  • After our basic script was written, as a group we went through and added in jokes and funny phrases.





Story Changes:

The main question in our news package was about what audiences prefer more in viral videos, content or a high production value. As we produced our two videos and uploaded them, we saw that only one of our videos was doing well online and we all agreed to only include one of the videos in our production. 

This meant that we had to go through our script and take out all the sections where we talked about production values. There is still a slight aspect of this in our production however as in our interview we ask the question "what do you think is more important, production values or content?" to Katie Joslin.

Camera Workshop 2

In our second camera workshop, we were given the task of creating a sequence of shots that fit together showing someone walking towards and sitting down on a chair.  We looked at how to make make sure that our subject was completely in focus - for this we zoomed in as far as the camera will go on the subject and then set the focus, we also learnt about using the expanded focus setting on the camera which zooms in further to get an even sharper focus. When focusing, we used the 'Peaking' button on the camera which allows you to see exactly where the camera is focused by flashing red on the sections. We practiced changing the exposure and white balance to make sure that the colours on the camera were the same as in real life, experimenting with changing the colour temperature depending on the lighting situation on location.     We also learnt about the 'Zebra' setting on the camera. Writing a Script

*A screenplay only tells us what we can see and hear*  Important things to consider are  Title page - which should contain the name of the story, the writers name, draft date and contact details which are important if you are handing out your script to people. Scene headings - the scene heading should state whether it is to take place inside or outside using INT. or EXT. It should also contain the location, e.g. BEDROOM, HOUSE and time of day - DAY/NIGHT Action -  The action under the scene heading should contain enough detail so that the reader can picture the location or action but concise enough that it is just a long paragraph of description, it should also be written in the present tense.  Characters - when introducing a new character, their name should be written in capital letters so that the reader knows they are a new characters. If the character is not in the scene but can be heart or are a voice over, then (V/O) or (O/S) should be used.  Dialog

FICTION ADAPTATION • 59 by Harry Baker

" 59 loved 60 from afar, but 60 thought 59 was… odd. And then 60 met 61, who was like 60, but a little bit more. Together, 59 and 61 combined to become twice what 60 could ever be. A prime example of love!" My interpretation of the poem after to listening to Harry baker perform is that the characters 59, 60 and 61 are all quite young and the poem is based around that innocent first love. I wanted to portray this in my adaptation and by decided to create an animation, I felt I could successfully portray how I imaged the characters to look and act.  The poem contains lots of detailed descriptions of the characters and I wanted to stick with the poets descriptions of them, keeping to the orginalitiy of the poem but, by changing some of the locations and situations the characters to make it more my own adaptation.  The story in the poem is quite simple and I want to keep a certain simplicity to it as well.
